Palace Tomb

0314 Palace Tomb  Petra, Jordan

The Palace Tomb is an important example of the craftsmanship of rock caved buildings. This building is presumably an audacious imitation of Roman Palace, such as the Palace of the Roman emperor Nero, the famous Golden House. It is composed of three levels, but while the lower one was cut from the rock, the others above were partially erected with blocks of rock, in order to compensate the insufficient height of the original rock face in relation tto the impressive architectural plan.
